FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is the removal of fat cells. There are several approaches to treatment of fat cells with the intent to improve the contour of the body.

What is BODYtite/FACEtite?

BODYtite and FACEtite are minimally invasive skin tightening procedures that concurrently produce skin tightening and stimulation of collagen production performed under local anesthesia in a physician’s office. This treatment is often combined with liposuction to produce superior body contouring results. Radiofrequency technology is used to perform tightening. This technology has been present for years and is used in surgery every day.

Why use BODYtite/FACEtite?

Traditional liposuction often requires use of a general anesthetic, larger incisions, and is associated with more bruising, bleeding, and soreness. Ultrasound assisted liposuction is similar to BODYtite/FACEtite with small incisions but does not have the added benefit of skin tightening.
BODYtite and FACEtite not only remove fat cells; they heat the skin thus stimulating collagen formation which results in skin tightening. With other methods, fat is removed but the overlying skin may remain loose and saggy.

Non-invasive body contouring treatments are available but are limited in the amount of tissue that can be treated. Some of these devices just tighten skin, others just reduce some of the fat within the cells without destroying the fat. These treatments include laser, radiofrequency, infrared, ultrasound, and cryotherapy. Multiple treatments are usually required for the non-invasive body contouring therapies. We do offer non-invasive BODYfx and MINIfx body contouring treatments that do destroy fat as well as tighten skin. These treatments best utilized by someone who does not desire invasive liposuction and has small pockets of fat. Blue Ridge Liposuction also offers FORMA for tightening the skin and temporary reduction of cellulite.

Who is a candidate for BODYtite/FACEtite?

The best candidates are those individuals who are relatively healthy and have maintained a stable weight for the past 6 months. A good candidate is someone who is <30% overweight but depending on area to be treated, this value may be flexible. Men and women can benefit from treatment.

What areas can be treated with BODYtite/FACEtite?

The neck, upper arms, bra fat, back, flanks, abdomen, “mommy tummy”, gynecomastia (man “boobs”) and thighs can be treated with BODYtite/FACEtite.

What is the recovery time?

You can generally resume normal activity within 1-2 days after the procedure however we do recommend that you refrain from exercise for 2 weeks. Continuous use of a compression garment is also advised for at least 1-2 weeks depending on the size of the treated area. Massage to the area will help optimize appearance of the issue and reduce risk of contour irregularities as well as seroma formation.

How long do the results last?

Liposuction removes fat cells so these will not “grow back”. BODYtite/FACEtite will stimulate collagen formation as well as tighten skin giving it a lift. As you age, you lose collagen so a few years later, you may benefit from another skin tightening procedure. This is also true with traditional face/body lifts. If you gain weight, fat cells in other areas of the body will enlarge.
